Four mono channels with SSL SuperAnalogue mic pres - 66dB of gain compared to mid-40s or 50's - provide the main inputs for the Big SiX offering you best in class audio quality. Thanks to its excellent design, the SSL SuperAnalogue design gives you sonic character like no other. The ultra-low noise circuitry means you get perfect sound - every time. The wide dynamic range offers great reproduction no matter what instruments are in your signal chain. It features ultra-low distortion as well as great stereo imaging.
It features Phantom Power to handle any mic you use with it. All four mono channels have a new three-band SSL EQ that may be independently switched between shelf and bell curves, with different centre frequencies for each type. This gives you great control over your signals. The long 100mm faders provide you with accurate controls for setting levels.
Perfect for use with your favourite DAW, the Big SiX features an onboard 96kHz/24-bit USB interface that is compatible with both Mac and PC devices. The interface comes equipped with 16 premium-grade AD/DA converters which are used to process the SuperAnalogue signal chain. Channels 1-12 are distributed across the first 12 inputs and outputs and cane be switched using the pre/post fader. USB channels 13-16 route to/from External inputs and Master buses. Alternatively, sends 9/10 and 11/12 can be fed from the stereo cue buses.
Taken from the SL G-Series console, the BiG SiX incorporates the powerful G-Series Bus Compressor across the mix bus – perfect for ‘glueing’ your sound together for a cohesive production. This iconic compressor circuit features the same topology as the original design. Use it as a starting point for your mix or add some energy and drive to your finished product. It features ‘set and forget’ settings that are renowned for their versatility from larger format SSL consoles.
Get the classic SSL sound with the onboard channel compression. You can use the compressor for a variety of applications from audio refinement to adding unique character and punch. Designed for versatility, you can use the onboard controls to dial in your required sound. For example, setting the attack time between 8ms-30ms, the release time to around 300ms and with a 2:1 ratio; the compressor will work across a myriad of different audio content. This is just one of the three compression flavours the BiG SiX provides.
Professional routing and monitoring features allow you to take full control over your mixdown. These routing paths are taken directly from the larger SSL consoles. The Master section includes main and alt monitor outputs with mono check, dim and out. Giving you deep control over your output. The fader channels all have proper PFL and mute. It even comes with a talkback mic input with Phantom Power to help you keep in touch with your talent.
One of the things that sets the SSL Ultraviolet from conventional equalizer units is its unique ‘Focus Mode’. Focus Mode allows you to “dial into” specific frequencies, which can be used to eliminate problematic frequencies or for boosting desired frequencies to add colour to your sound. When activated, Focus Mode will narrow your selected ‘Q’ setting whilst also increasing the gain range (from +/-9 dB to +/-18 dB). This allows you to get surgical with your sound shaping/mixing decision, providing the means to get the sound you desire with exceptional precision.
Basing its design around classic SSL gear, the Ultraviolet takes Solid State Logic’s character and principles to the next level by employing two dedicated mid-bands with precision controls. You can achieve everything from classic-style ‘notch filtering to resonant screams with the turn of a few dials. As always with SSL hardware, the Ultraviolet provides a highly musical design that allows you to shape your sound with the utmost sonic accuracy.
If you’re looking to remove unwanted low-end frequencies and tighten up your bass response, the onboard HPF (high-pass filter) allows you to process your low-end with ease. The unique LF shelving bands allow you to sculpt your signals with ease and also offer the iconic ‘boost and cut;’ effect. The module also features a dedicated trim control, providing plenty of headroom and the ability to clip your sound (if desired) for some truly unique and aggressive tones.
