Oscillators and filters
Predator 3 features three oscillators that each include their own sub-oscillators.
You can choose from a wide range of waveforms too, that are subtractive analog-modeled, additive spectrum, and user-defined spectrum. Morph between these for shifting waveform effects and use the spread feature to take advantage of 3-oscillator detuning.
Two analog-modeled filters are available with custom routing, and 38 different types to choose from. If you want to add a bit of grit, dial up the pre-filter distortion. And the filter envelope is ideal for adding more shape to your sound with minimal effort.
Modulation, envelopes and amps
There is a wide range of modulation options available in Predator 3's architecture. These include the pitch LFO, filter LFO, and four assignable LFOs. Each of these has speed control, tempo sync, multiple waveforms to choose from, and a range of other in-depth controls. There is also a modulation matrix available to use, with 20 slots and a bypass feature.
And for shaping your sound's behaviour over time there are four envelopes with attack, decay, sustain, sustain-fade, and release. These have options for tempo-sync, speed controls, and more in addition.
The amp section includes controls for both volume and velocity. There's also pan control and an EQ mixing menu. And if you want to drive your sound with power, there are 11 distortion modes to choose from.
Arpeggiator
The four ARPs - A, B, C and D - allow for in-depth performability from the Predator 3. They each have up to 16 steps each, with numerous step features to dig into such as tie, slide, and rachet. In addition, the four ARPs can interact with each other using a selection of different play modes.
You'll also find options for more ARP modes such as 'Chord Mode' and 'Modulating Mode.' And to top it off, you can interface the Predator's ARP with other external units using the MIDI out. All this makes the ARP section the powerhouse of this synth.
Presets, effects and more
Predator 3 is a super-detailed synthesizer, which requires in-depth use to fully grasp. To get started there are over 6100 presets, many of which are from previous Predator synths. This can take you down an unlimited number of sound design paths to achieve numerous synthesis options.
