Key Features
FabFilter Twin 2 is a pristine sounding synthesizer, designed to give you the flexibility to completely customise your sound with drag-and-drop modulation, a versatile delay section and four multi-mode analog-style filters with 11 unique characteristics. New and improved over previous iterations, FabFilter Twin 2 provides you with three newly designed, fully-featured oscillators with four wave types including sine, sawtooth, triangle and square as well as both white and pink noise generators to deliver authentic analog tones in a completely aliasing-free design. Additionally, FabFilter Twin 2 includes four, award-winning multimode filters with a switchable response from 12/24/48dB per octave as well as a switchable high-pass, low-pass and band-pass filter and 11 unique characteristics ranging from soft and subtle to aggressive and over-the-top.
A newly designed Delay section is presented in a simple and easy to use format, split into two lanes to create a wide array of stereo delays, subtle flanging, phasing and even chorusing effects that can help add a new layer of texture, dimension and depth to your sound. Each parameter within the Delay section and the rest of the plug-in can be modulated with an almost limitless number of possibilities. Using the unique drag-and-drop modulation matrix, you can implement XLFO's, Envelope Generators, MIDI sources and XY controllers to change the tonal landscape of your sound and experiment with sound design like never before in a synthesizer.

Featuring three premium-quality oscillators, each with Pulse Width Modulation, Hard Sync and Phase Sync, FabFilter Twin 2 is a fully-featured synth with immaculate audio fidelity. The oscillators have been painstakingly developed to deliver a completely aliasing-free sound that delivers an authentic analog experience to rival the most boutique and sought-after hardware synthesizers!
Each oscillator packs in four wave types including triangle, sawtooth, square and sine with an additional white and pink noise generator to give you a complete palette of tonal options.
FabFilter Twin includes four multimode, stereo filters, whereby two are used in the delay section and the remaining two are used after the oscillator. Providing a huge range of flexibility, you can route the filters in three different ways, serial, parallel and per-oscillator/delay. With each filter, you can change the response between 12, 24 and 48dB octave slopes to drastically change the character, adding more aggression and attenuation the higher you take the slope. This can be ideal for ensuring that your synthesizer tone can fit in even the densest of mixes by removing the body and retaining the mid-range and treble so it cuts through. Additionally, you can change the type of filter from low-pass, high-pass and band-pass.
Each filter has 11 unique characteristics that define the tone of the filtering and they range from smooth and articulate with moderate overdrive to self-oscillating and over-the-top with large amounts of harmonics and overdrive.
Give your sounds a new layer of stereo width and depth as well as blurring the lines between flanging and chorus with the all-new delay section. Delay can be an extremely important aspect of your sound design thanks to the ability to modulate each parameter to generate new and exciting sounds. Comprised of two delay lanes with time, feedback, crossover and wet/dry settings, Twin 2, Digital Delivery gives you a huge plethora of knobs to adjust to completely transform your sound from one place to another. You can of course sync the delay time to your hosts BPM in your DAW and implement triplet and dotted notes or use a 'free mode' where you can manually set the tempo and set an ultra-short delay between 0.1 and 50ms to get typical flanging and chorus comb-filtering delays.
With Twin 2, you don't need to only use the Delay section as an effect but you can use it as part of your arrangement as the rhythm to your music. Using the included feedback dial, you can increase the number of repeats per delay from a single sound, allowing you to create complex, 16th note arpeggios when you perform simple 8th note scales!
For creative sound design, it's integral to have an interface that inspires and is not too clustered that it can be a hindrance to your process, with Twin 2, FabFilter has taken the interface design to a new level by employing the 'what you use is what you see' concept. In this, Twin 2 only displays the parameters and matrix blocks that you have engaged, leaving out anything else so you can quickly make adjustments to your settings without tedious menu-diving that can stifle the creative process. Now, you can quickly experiment with each and every feature and audition which one will work best for your sound without spending a tremendous amount of time opening and closing windows within the plugin.
This simple idea is vital in improving your workflow, helping you stay within the groove and keep your ideas on track without being derailed. Asking the simple question of, do you want another filter or Envelope Follower or to remove a modulation source? Simply add it or remove it! Intuitive for both beginners and seasoned professionals, you will be able to create your sound design faster than ever.
Getting started with modulation within Twin 2 is incredibly easy, with an intuitive drag-and-drop system where you can insert any amount of XLFO's, Envelope Generators and MIDI sources as you will ever need together in a customized chain. Visual feedback is provided to show you the source of your modulation on any block in your matrix, allowing you to quickly and easily adjust parameters. The new and improved modulation sources ensure that you will be able to freely express your creativity and achieve the sound in your head with absolute ease, whether you're looking to offset your XLFO Speed to the attack parameter of your Envelope Follower or the feedback level of your delay signal, Twin 2 lets you actualise your design.
The newly designed XLFO provides you with a seemingly endless array of options to create unique and exciting sounds, including anything from a simple sine wave to a fully programmable 16-step sequencer. Other modulation sources can be generated through MIDI modulation, letting you modulate parameters using any form of MIDI data, making Twin 2 the ultimate solution for the live musician whereby you can use your plug-in as an instrument and 'perform' in changes to your sound design giving your show a live and organic feel that moves with energy and emotion to keep your listeners engaged.
In keeping with the existing catalogue of FabFilter products, Twin 2 employs the same attention to detail and care in giving you the best experience possible when operating the plug-in. In order to deliver the smoothest experience possible, FabFilter Twin 2, Digital Delivery utilises smart parameter interpolation to ensure that each setting change is performed smoothly with a high degree of responsiveness. Now, you can cycle through settings to find what will work best with your sound source without the distracting and offputting clicks, digital distortion artefacts or 'zipper' effects. When combined with the improved MIDI learn function, FabFilter Twin 2 responds immaculately when used in conjunction with a MIDI controller, meaning that when performing live, you can map each parameter to your chosen controller and adjust settings on the fly without any distractions, giving your audience the best listening experience possible.
If you are new to entering the world of creative synthesizer design, FabFilter Twin 2 has got you covered. With extensive help files and interactive help hints per parameter, you can learn the function of each parameter. Additionally, you can save the of each part of your signal chain, or save it globally for an overall preset that you can recall in an instant in future sessions.
