The RS-35 combines three modules into one, providing a highly versatile utility module that can be used for a variety of sound design applications. The first section of the RS-35 is the frequency-to-voltage generator. This converter is designed to accept an audio signal as its input, and works by analysing the input signal pitch, generating a pitch CV. The section is comprised of a Frequency input, that accepts any audio signal in the ±10V range. There are also two conversion modes available in the form of 1OCT/Volt and Variable for maximum flexibility. The F-Range control is comprised of two frequency modes in the form of 1Khz and 10Khz, converting the signal range to the selectable range corresponding to the frequency range. The 1Khz setting converts the signal in the range of 20Hz – 1.2kHz. The 10Khz settings converts the signal range to 100Hz – 10kHz. It also features a F-V Slew control, complete with Frequ-V V-Output and Held-V Output for maximum versatility.
The second section is comprised of a level-to-voltage converter a.k.a. as an envelope follower. This section is comprised of a level control and a slew limiter, generating a CV out of the average amplitude of the frequency input. The level to voltage conversion section features Level and Slew attenuators as well as a dedicated output. The Level control comes complete with a RED LED providing a visual indication of the sections activity. The slew prevents rapid changes in the signal, taken from the input.
The integrated trigger generation is a pulse wave, generating from the frequency of the input signal. The frequency range spans from 1Hz – 10kHz. When using a lower frequency, you can use the trigger generator to clock sequencers, triggering contour generators and more. At higher frequencies, you can use the RS280 clock diverse to extract suitable triggers. The sensitivity control allows you to control the amplitude level of the triggers generated. The trigger generator also features a dedicated output, in the form of a nominal +5V pulse. The output is accompanied by a Green LED, providing a visual indication when the trigger is in use.
