Key Features
The Frequency Central Berlin School, 8 Step Sequencer is a versatile sequencing Eurorack module, basing its design around the iconic CD4017 Johnson counter chip, controlled via the 16F1765 PIC. This specialised architecture provides a range of unique features including a quantised output, manual transpose and voltage-controlled transpose (all chromatic) capabilities.
Product Ref: 221496
Taking its name from a genre of electronic music birthed in West Berlin in the 70s; Berlin School encapsulates the spirit of the genre; renowned for its short and evolving sequences. The module is infinitely more versatile than its counterparts thanks to the chip being under PIC control. Its hands-on, complex nature makes it perfect for live performers as well as sound designers. A wide range of unique tools are on offer to take your sequences to the next level.
With the inclusion of the clock divider and the choice of three different step modes (4, 6 and 8 steps) you can take your rhythmic melodies and percussive sequences to the next level. There are a number of ways to control parameters within the module via external sources. For instance, you can control the length of each individual step from the DIV CV input socket via an external source such as an LFO or sample/hold modules.
Because Berlin School is capable of accurate quantisation you can tweak your note information by step in real-time, ensuring everything falls into place. You can also control transposition by an external source via the Trans.CV input socket. You can use an external controller or a 1V/oct keyboard and any other CV source or do it manually by using the DIV and Transpose controls.
