Key Features
The Buchla & Tiptop Audio 281T Quad Function Generator is a modern take on the classic Buchla 281 module from the iconic 200 series and converted to Eurorack standards. Designed in collaboration between Buchla and Tiptop Audio, the 281T harnesses the power, flexibility and functionality of the original and pays specific attention to the details to give you the complete Quad Function Generator experience. The 281T is comprised of four function generators arranged in two pairs where each generator can function independently or can be connected through the Quadrature outputs to work in pairs with their functions shifted by ninety degrees to generate more complex outputs voltages.
Each individual operator includes a mode switch to choose from either Sustained (envelope, long gate), Transient (envelope, short gate) and Cycle (LFO) operation. Upon receiving an input pulse, each generator will increase the output voltage to 10V depending on the time of the attack time knob. With a wide range of between .001ms to 10seconds for both attack and decay, Quad Function Generator gives you a wide range of complex output voltages for your sound design. When in Sustained mode, the output voltages fall to 0V at a rate determined by the sum of the decay knob and CV level. For evolving and continuous generator output voltage, the Cyclic mode repeats the movement at the end of the Decay rate.
Much more than a simple envelope generator, the Quad Function Generator serves a purpose in every modular Eurorack synth, allowing for complex modulation with the integrated LFO per generator and even opening up the possibilities for quadraphonic sound design when paired with other Buchla and Tiptop Audio modules.
