Key Features
A pedal icon, reinvented. The Maxon VOP-9 Vintage Overdrive Pro Pedal has earned its reputation for sparkling overdrive and superior reliability on merit. The classic three-knob layout makes it easy to dial in a range of overdriven tones- from a simple clean boost to elevate your playing, through to full-blown sludgy distortion, the VOP-9 has conquered low-medium gain drive. It's also highly sensitive to touch and dynamic response, so the heavier you play, the more distorted your tone will be. Once you plug in with one of these, it becomes quickly apparent why it's so well regarded by beginners and seasoned pros alike.

With the range of overdrive tones available, the Maxon VOP-9 Vintage Overdrive Pro Pedal keeps the controls simple to make it remarkably easy dialling in whatever overdriven tone you require. The dual-ganged Drive control blends clean and dirty tones, delivering a stunning clean boost at lower settings and a creamy, light overdrive at high noon. Max it out for a full-bodied crunchy overdrive that’s thick and saturated while still retaining clarity.
This is achieved by a clever design feature: after the JFET input buffer, the signal is sent to the dual-gang Drive pot where it is split between a clean gain stage and the overdrive stage. As the Drive knob is turned up, more signal is sent to the overdrive stage while the drive of this stage is also turned up. If the Drive knob is turned down, more signal is sent to the clean gain stage and the drive of the overdrive stage is turned down. At 12 o’clock on the Drive knob, the signal is split 50/50 clean/overdriven. This is the secret to the increased transparency and added versatility.Another deluxe feature is the ability to double the voltage that the pedal operates at. This can be changed via the internal charge pump, on the 9 volt setting the VOP-9 reacts more like a traditional overdrive, while at 18-volts it offers increased headroom and a fuller frequency response for a more expressive, dynamic effect. This also means no midrange spike that you commonly associate with Maxon overdrives.
