Key Features
The Theo Wanne Durga 4 Clarinet Mouthpiece is a mouthpiece for depth of tone. With a shallow roll-over baffle, the airstream moves at different rates, so you get a rich, thick sound made up of multiple layers. This creates a full tone with an added edge. To sustain this sound, the large chamber offers greater projection, as more air is channeled into the mouthpiece.
Experience the benefits of a marriage between vintage design and modern construction. Theo Wanne uses advanced manufacturing methods to produce the highest quality mouthpieces; his saxophone and clarinet mouthpieces are known for their precise, detailed construction. The Durga 4 is made out of vintage hard rubber, which produces a classic, resonant sound and it's also highly durable.

Like the Theo Wanne saxophone mouthpiece line, the clarinet mouthpieces are manufactured to the legendary standards that characterise Theo Wanne's brand. Theo Wanne uses the most advanced manufacturing methods, five-axis machining and high levels of precision in the production process. Every mouthpiece is made from a solid bar of the highest quality vintage hard rubber - a material that when used for mouthpieces creates an authentic, rich sound.
The secret to a fantastic tone lies in the mouthpiece. The Durga 4 has a roll-over baffle which means the airstream generally moves slowly, but the short high section just behind the tip adds more overtones to the sound. This works to create a multilayered effect for maximum depth of tone.
Working in conjunction with the baffle is a unique, large chamber. This is a classic mouthpiece style where the chamber is larger than the bore to give you a full, open sound. With a tip size of 0.05", this edition of the Theo Wanne Durga 4 Clarinet Mouthpiece is easy to blow while maintaining good intonation. Therefore, it's easy to fill up the chamber to maximise the potential of this mouthpiece design to create a deep, sonorous sound.
Theo Wanne is a modern expert on new and vintage woodwind mouthpiece design. Theo became a saxophone repair technician over 20 years ago under the direction of master refacer Bob Carpenter - a pioneer of mouthpiece refacing and repairs. Theo soon gained a reputation within the saxophone world and in 1998 opened Saxophone Mouthpiece Heaven which is his very own music store and knowledge database.
In 2007 Theo started to design and manufacture his own line of mouthpieces and saxophones, working with famous musicians such as Joshua Redman, Chris Potter, and Eric Alexander. Theo is constantly studying and innovating his designs to ensure his mouthpieces allow musicians to create their best tone as easily as possible. Theo Wanne now has a reputation for crafting some of the best saxophone and clarinet mouthpieces by using the world's most advanced manufacturing techniques.
“The first thing I love about this mouthpiece is that articulation is really simple, you can tongue really fast, really clearly, and with a lot of sound and volume. I’ve also notice that the high range speaks really well, really loud, and is very easy to play. Also, these middle range notes speak really well, they speak really nice, which is really difficult to get on clarinet. Every time I played clarinet I had difficulty with those, the palm keys, before. I feel like the speak really easily. Definitely get the Theo Wanne DURGA 4 mouthpiece, you won’t regret it.” Leo P (Too Many Zoos)
“It is by far the best mouthpiece I’ve ever played, amazing! Theo Wanne products have an exceptional reputation to which I can attest to. The DURGA clarinet mouthpiece is definitely my woodwind soul mate :)” Tracy Vignati (The Vignatis)
