The 1444 was originally offered in 1959 as the very first 4-string electric bass, and was a major part of music. Produced from 1959 to 1965, the original featured a single lipstick pickup, ergonomic U style semi-solid masonite body, "Dolphin Nose" headstock and a trapezoidal bridge with a rosewood saddle. The reissue version maintains the comfortable vintage looks with some modern appointments to bring this classic into the 21st century. With the same ergonomically shaped body constructed from solid alder, the same unique headstock style with sealed tuners, a new bass humbucker pickup, bolt-on maple neck and a diecast vintage style bridge with chrome steel saddles, this bass builds on the original's success. You can still expect that full, rich low end with punchy mids and responsive highs, just with that bit extra versatility and a more up to date list of features.
The modern upgrades added to this bass guitar don't stop at the hardware and electronics, the design has been adjusted to create an instrument that is easy and incredibly fun to play. The neck has taken on a new comfortable and consistent C-shape with incredibly precise fret-work to prevent fatigue of your fretting hand. Also featured is a double expanding/dual action truss rod giving you the ability to make precise and dependable neck adjustments to suit any playing style. It even enables you to use of a wide variety of string gauges.
