Spruce Top & Mahogany Body

The Dean Exotica features a stunning spruce top, offering crisp articulation and a broad dynamic range. Spruce is the most commonly used wood for guitar tops as it generates a versatile sound and accommodates numerous playing styles, from aggressive to fingerpicking. The spruce top is coupled with mahogany back and sides which adds a characterised warmth to its brightly toned spruce top. Used as back and side panels the mahogany delivers a meaty mid-range, producing punchy, woody tones with plenty of depth and complexity that will please most playing styles.

Mahogany Neck & Walnut Fingerboard

The Exotica's neck is constructed from mahogany, offering durability and resonance. The reason why many guitar necks are built from mahogany is because the wood responds greatly to different styles of play, from fingerpicking styles to different strumming patterns with equal ease. The neck is topped with a walnut fingerboard that delivers a bright, warm, sparkly tone that really shines through when using fingerpicking techniques. The walnut fingerboard also provides a smooth and energetic playing experience and is sprinkled with pearl Exotica fingerboard markers for added elegance.

Auditorium Body Shape

The Dean Exotica features a versatile and comfortable body shape; the grand auditorium. The shape is equally as suited to fingerpicking styles as it is to strumming. The grand auditorium is an all-purpose body shape that provides an incredibly comfortable playing experience and projects a voice that can accommodate numerous genres and playing techniques.

Venetian Cutaway

The Venetian Cutaway is renowned for its soft, round lines, creating a visually stunning look that is recognisable on any body. This type of cutaway allows easier access to the upper frets for a comfortable play, and enables you with more freedom throughout the fingerboard.

DMT I2NR On-Board Preamp

The Dean Exotica comes stage ready and perfect for the gigging musician due to it being equipped with a DMT 12NR preamp with a built-in tuner. The DMT 12NR features slider controls for bass, mid, treble, presence, volume, and a phases in/out switch. The preamp offers sound tweaking for stage or rehearsal environments.
