The Ibanez AEG10II features a spruce top that delivers a broad dynamic range, and crisp articulation. Spruce is well known for its versatility and bright top-end, and is the most commonly used wood for guitar tops as it accommodates numerous playing styles, from aggressive strumming, to fingerpicking. The wood itself is quite elastic in nature, which resonates well whilst remaining strong, and provides a focused, clear sound of deep lows, warm midi-range, and bright highs. The spruce top is contrasted beautifully by the mahogany back and sides, and produces a more focused, woody, punchy mid-range, with plenty of depth and complexity that will please most playing styles. Mahogany also contains distinct character of soft warmth, but is well balanced with a bite of its own.
The AEG's neck is constructed from mahogany, offering a smooth playability, durability, and fantastic resonance. The reason why many guitar necks are made from mahogany is because the wood responds greatly to picking, strumming, and various finger techniques with equal ease. The neck is topped with a rosewood fingerboard that delivers a warm, bright, sparkly tone that really shines through when using finger picking techniques.
The Ibanez AEG10II features an Ibanez AEG body shape, which falls between a grand auditorium body shape and a folk body shape, offering comfortable playability. In addition to providing a comfortable playing experience, the AEG features a single cutaway design that enables players to access more challenging chords higher up the fingerboard with ease. Its body shape can handle many different genres and playing techniques, from country and blues, to pop.
The Ibanez AEG10II comes equipped with an AEQ-SP1 preamp and a Fishman Sonicore pickup, offering an amplified sound when used with an amplifier. The AEQ-SP1 features rotary controls for bass, middle, treble, and volume, as well as a phase button and an on-board tuner.
