The AE900 is crafted in Japan by Ibanez's top-level luthiers. The complete process - from initial design, to the selection of the tonewoods, to the final set-up - is undertaken by Ibanez's top designers and craftsmen to create an instrument with the ultimate quality in aesthetics, performance and tone. This guitar gives you boutique-quality specifications and design features, making it a no-holds barred instrument for the most discerning players.
The AE900 is crafted with an Indian rosewood body topped with a solid sitka spruce top. This classic combination of woods delivers an extremely wide frequency response with excellent balance throughout the range. The rosewood body gives the strength required for powerful projection, while the spruce top will enhance any player input with great nuance and a wide dynamics range.
The AE900's neck is made from African mahogany which is a light weight and highly resonant tonewood helping to enhance the guitar's sustain and resonance.
The AE900's tonewoods are dried in a kiln using the far-infrared method. This technique uses a low 40-degree temperature to dry the woods with the minimum of stress, keeping them stable without affecting the wood's resin component which would negatively impact the tone.
The top is supported by scalloped X bracing which helps to complete the AE900's full sonic spectrum. The guitar construction enables deep lows, pronounced mid-range, and a bell-like treble. The scalloped design maximises the transfer of vibrations while keeping the top lightweight to enable a long sustain. It creates a huge range of overtones to deliver a complex tonality that is only evident in the highest quality instruments. This creates a large dynamic range with an incredible responsiveness to player input.
The back of the AE900 is also braced to create additional strength. This gives enhanced projection with superior sustain and richness of tone.
The AE body shape is designed for projection, balance, and comfort. It has a contemporary single cutaway enabling easy top-fret access, while the slightly shallower than a dreadnought with a deeper waist offers a versatile sound that is highly adaptive to different playing styles. This shape offers the projection of a dreadnought yet still delivers the delicate nuance of a concert/auditorium guitar, making it ideal for both aggressive strumming and detailed fingerpicking.
The AE900 is crafted with an Enhanced Comfort Grip. This has a slight asymmetric profile that sits ergonomically in your left hand and creates a unique and natural playing feel. The neck gradually thickens as you travel higher up the fingerboard, while the profile adapts to your natural playing position. An easy-playing 1.75'' nut provides ample room for fingerpickers and strummers, and the back of the neck has a smooth satin finish for an incredibly tactile feel.
The AE900 features Gotoh SGS510Z machine heads for accurate tuning and enhanced stability. They have a 1:18 ratio which ensures precise adjustments. The guitar has a bone nut and thicker-than-ordinary bone saddle for improved intonation and superior transfer of string vibrations.
The AE900's body, neck and headstock are finished with rosewood binding, with a refined black & white purfling that demonstrates the Ibanez luthiers' skill-set. An abalone/maple rosette gives a simple yet elegant finishing touch.
The AE900 has an undersaddle pickup powered by 2x C032 coin batteries. This stripped-back design ensures that the amount of drilling required is kept to a minimal, and the guitar's tonewoods are left as un-affected as possible.
The bulk of the tone shaping work is left to the included external AGP10 preamp. This preamp gives unsurpassed control of your sound for a truly professional performance. It features far-reaching control over your sound, along with multiple connectivity for 1/4'' direct monitoring and a balanced XLR output.
The AGP10 has a premium low-noise design with all-analog circuitry. It features a 5-band EQ, notch with adjustable frequency, filter and a phase reverse; this gives you a full feature-set for any live performance situation. The AGP10 can be powered by 9v or by battery for an even-more versatile option.
