The Les Paul '70s Tribute starts from the same point as the greatest Les Paul Standards ever made, the classic combination of a mahogany body with a solid carved maple top. This pairing gives a tonal depth and complexity unmatched by any single-wood construction, with warmth and richness from the mahogany and superb clarity and "snap" from the maple. The back has been strategically weight-relieved to lighten the load and improve resonance.
The neck of the guitar is made from solid mahogany, carved to Gibson's characteristic medium '70s profile and glued into the body, with period-correct volute to strengthen the back-angled headstock. The genuine rosewood fingerboard features 22 medium-jumbo frets and traditional trapezoid inlays, with no binding to clutter the stripped-down look.
The pair of Dirty Fingers™ humbucking pickups are among the hottest pickups Gibson has ever designed, making them a legendary component of '70s firepower. They feature powerful ceramic magnets and overwound coils for a sizzling, sustainful sound that nevertheless remains clear and articulate. Separate volume and tone controls for each pickup plus a three-way toggle selector give a broad range of sonic variations, while the Tune-o-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece ensure solid sustain and outstanding intonation.
